Kimberlyn David, co-publisher and editor
Kimberlyn likes to say her fabulous career in bookmaking began in the 6th grade, when she participated in the school library’s design-a-book-cover contest. Crafted with construction paper, markers, and Elmer’s glue, Kimberlyn’s cover for The Wheel on the School was among the winning entries. Despite such a fortuitous start in the world of publishing, Kimberlyn found herself sidetracked by finishing middle school. Later in life, Kimberlyn worked in other media—commercial post-production, magazine writing and editing, and advertising. During a journalism fellowship in 2005, Kimberlyn contributed research to America and the Islamic Bomb: The Deadly Compromise, a book written by investigative reporters David Armstrong and Joe Trento. Kimberlyn earned her M.A. in Media and Cultural Studies from New York University. She blogs about yoga and politics at www.radicalyoga.com. Learn more about Kimberlyn on her personal site.

Okke Ornstein, co-publisher and editor
As an investigative reporter, Okke has worked in Afghanistan, Holland, Kosovo, and Latin America. As a producer and director, he has overseen award-winning documentaries and reality series for Dutch TV. With more than 20 years of broadcast and print journalism under his belt, Okke is drawn to book publishing for the same reasons he is online media. Drawing parallels between the two, he says, “What Paraguas Books must do to publishing is what blogging has done to the news industry—make it more democratic, accessible, diverse, transparent, and with more rewards for the people who actually produce the content.” Okke currently resides in Panama, where he has lived for the last decade. Former publisher of investigative news site Noriegaville News, he runs the award-winning site Bananama Republic. Okke speaks 6 languages and blogs at www.ornstein.org and Last Seen on Taboga.
